      Executive Director

      This is Toby’s 10th year as Executive Director of RED. She holds dual BA degrees in Social Work and Psychology from the University of New Hampshire, as well as a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University. She’s worked in the field of education for over 20 years and can’t believe she’s that old. When she is not chasing kids around Runkle, she can be found chasing her 3 nephews or the perfect beach. She’s also a competitive poker player, and a decent photographer but refuses to take a selfie. She’s honored to be a part of the lives of so many wonderful children here at Runkle.

      This is Matt’s 13th year at RED. Matt has his BS in Advertising and Psychology from Northern Arizona University, and his MFA in Creative Writing from Goddard College in Vermont. He lives in Sudbury, MA with his wife, son and daughter. He enjoys writing, cooking, classic rock, and spending time in nature.

      Shayna is very excited to be returning to the Honeybee team at RED this year! Shayna graduated from Northeastern University with a BA in Communications Studies and International Affairs. She spent this past summer working as the boating director at an overnight camp on Cape Cod. Shayna enjoys being outside, doing art projects, and playing with her cat, Jack. She is looking forward to seeing all of the returning students and meeting all of the new students joining us at RED!

      This is April’s 7th year at RED. She is a graduate of Hood College where she majored in English and minored in Philosophy. She is a local Boston poet, a story teller, and a former cross country runner who is an alum of the American Academy of Personal Training. She has a pet guinea pig named Zippy at home.

      Kaitlin is very excited to be back at RED for her fifth year working with the Honeybees! She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English and a minor in Education. Outside of the classroom, Kaitlin coaches cheerleading at Needham High School and is also a Barre instructor. She enjoys the outdoors as well as running and doing arts and crafts. She is looking forward to another great year!

      Anna is very excited to return the Honeybee team this year! With a background in Art Education, Anna has taught in after-school enrichment programs, preschools, and museums in both Vermont and the Boston Metro area. Anna enjoys exploring the outdoors, building structures of all sizes, creating with recycled materials, urban gardening, and the Celtics. She is looking forward to sharing these joys with the RED community!

      Briana is thrilled to be returning to RED and the crickets for her second year! Briana received her BA from Brigham Young University in Theatre Education and has enjoyed teaching students in both dance and theatre over the last several years. Briana enjoys board games, Star Wars, singing, acting, and can’t get enough of Broadway! Other than being a huge theatre junkie, she can be found watching Doctor Who, reading, and going to museums of all sorts. She currently lives in Dorchester with her wife.

      Juliet started teaching at RED in 2010 and is happy to be continuing with the Cricket group this year. A BFA graduate of Emerson College, she especially enjoys the arts both at RED and in her personal life. You may find her teaching students how to make jewelry, or word searches, design costumes, create games, or whip up nutritious snacks. Juliet performs music and creates theatre pieces and live shows in the Boston scene. She enjoys dancing, visual art, cooking, and relaxing at the beach. She’s excited for all the wonderful fun and learning this year will bring on the Crickets team!

      Aura Ortiz is excited to be joining the Crickets for a second year. She is a UMass Boston Alumni who majored in Studio Art and Dance. She has taught children mostly in dance, around the metro Boston area for the past 8 years. She is an energetic art enthusiast and has been trained classically in dance and in urban street styles since the age of 8. Some of her interests also include poetry, being goofy and eating chocolate.

      Brian is delighted to begin his first year at RED. He recently completed his undergrad at Lasell College in Newton and has several years of experience working with kids. Born and raised in New Hampshire, Brian loves sports and making the most out of each day.

      Aaron Cecchini-Butler is excited for his fourth year at RED. He has a B.A. in Songwriting with a minor in history from Berklee College of Music and an MFA in Music Composition. He resides in Somerville and enjoys writing music, rock climbing, cooking, studying languages and playing all sorts of games!!! He is also a dog person who has two Shiba Inus!

      Daniel is very excited to return for his second year with the R.E.D. program as a member of the Dragonflies. Previously, Daniel taught children the importance of respect, discipline, and perseverance while working with a youth martial arts program in Iowa. Daniel loves to travel and became a certified scuba diver while living in Hawaii. He enjoys spending time with his niece and nephew, going to Fenway Park to watch the Sox play and walking around Boston on a nice Fall afternoon. He is excited to meet all of the kids and make this school year a blast!

      Dragonflies Teacher

      Catherine is looking forward to having lots of fun with the Dragonflies this year! She graduated from Tufts University with a BS in biology, and has masters degrees in Education and Science Journalism. She also studied drawing and painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and has written several children’s books. Catherine has been teaching science for ten years, and loves making connections between art and science. When she is not doing experiments or drawing pictures, Catherine enjoys writing poems and stories for children, and exploring the rocky coast of Maine.
